After graduating from the High School of Music and Art, Leonard Starr began studying at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y. During his stay at Pratt, Starr began working for Funnies Incorporated, a production house that provided comic pages to publishers such as Goodman Publications (Timely/Mavel), Quality Comics, Hillman,and Fox. Starting with backgrounds, within a year Starr quickly graduated to doing entire stories, while continuing to attend Pratt at night.
